The Noise: Robyn shows Coldplay how it's done

Robyn brings great drama to the dance floor with her cover of Coldplay's "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall." She avoids Chris Martin's melodrama and over orchestration.

Perhaps Robyn should make a cover album, having also done excellent covers of Alicia Keys' "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" and Björk's "Hyperballad."

The Noise: M.I.A. releases '27' for Amy Winehouse

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was found dead at her London apartment. She was only 27. The young soul singer clearly had her demons. Her struggles with drugs and alcohol have been well documented (even by herself), but it is still tragic to hear that one of the most talented singer-songwriters of recent years has passed at such a young age. Her great talent will be missed, but fortunately her perfect soul/pop songs will live on. Her aching voice will live on.

Beyoncé gets Fierce for 'Complex'

“Everything sounds the same on the radio. With 4 I tried to mix R&B from the ’70s and the ’90s with rock ‘n’ roll and a lot of horns to create something new and exciting. I wanted musical changes, bridges, vibrata, live instrumentation, and classic songwriting.”
-Beyoncé

The Noise: The Beastie's Get Their G.I. Joe on in New Video

The Godfathers of Hip-Hop hipsterdom, the Beastie Boys, once again enlist director Spike Jonze (Sabotage!) to bring the adventures of their new single "Don't Play No Game I Can't Win," to life. The action-packed, action-figured animation sees our heroes fighting for their lives, with both humorous and slightly disturbing results. Santigold is also featured, played by a hood-rich black Barbie.

The Noise: The Rapture feels love

The Rapture are once again falling in love on the dance-floor with the impossibly catchy "How Deep Is Your Love?" Check it out above.

Selling x Male du jour: Natalie Portman's baby daddy gets sexy for YSL

Dancer and famed baby daddy Benjamin Millepied was photographed in Manhattan by Patrick Demarchelier for Yves Saint Laurent's new fragrance, "L'Homme Libre." A 30 second TV spot is also on the way.

Millepied had this to say: "I'm happy and proud to have been chosen by Yves Saint Laurent, one of the world's most prestigious brands. I admire the world of this House, its elegance and modernity. Monsieur Saint Laurent was a fashion genius, a lover of the Arts, he also knew how to use his talent to serve the art of dancing."

Actriz: Penélope Cruz for the Fall Issue of 'V' Magazine

In Ralph Lauren

“I feel like an actress who is very fortunate to get work with continuity, to get opportunities to make a living from the job that I love so much.”
-Cruz on her career.

Penélope Cruz looks every bit the part of post-modern screen diva. Her mentor, Pedro Almodóvar, would be so proud. The actress discusses her career and some of her recent film choices, celebrity, and just barely hints at her personal life. Read it here.

No really, how does she do it? SJP for Vogue's annual 'Age Issue'

In Burberry Prorsum
"I love the opportunity to wear something really special and go to a wonderful event at some great cultural institution....Not to sound too Pollyanna about it, but I really didn't imagine when I was a little girl that I would be there to see it all myself."
-SJP on wearing archival Alexander McQueen to the Met Gala

Sarah Jessica Parker may be in her forties, but she still has all the girlish energy and ambition to run a small fashion empire (her fragrances), a production company (Pretty Matches, which produced Bravo's Work of Art), still be a leading lady (starring in the upcoming romantic comedy I Don't Know How She Does It), and maintain, even enlarge, a loving family.

That family appears with her in Vogue (previewed below), photographed by Mario Testino. It is suffice to say they look adorable as SJ plays sophisticated mother of the year in Bottega Venata, Chanel, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta.

In Marc Jacobs, with her adorable twin daughters.

The Noise x Selling: Santigold and Spank Rock bust a move in T by Alexander Wang

Genre-bending Santigold and her homie Spank Rock get down while wearing hipster approved casual, minimal designs by cooler-than-cool New York designer Alexander Wang for his popular diffusion line T.

Their jam? It's an exclusive remix of Santigold's new single "Go," which features one of our true rock stars, Ms. Karen O. Check it out below.

15 Minutes: Edie Sedgwick

What happens to 'it' girls? The results can be tragic. Many of them burn too brightly, too fast. Some of them burn themselves out.

Socialite Edie Sedgwick had all the potential and aspirations to be a star, as a model or as an actress. She was a style icon for the brief period when she was one of the Factory's original Superstars, known for her black tights, large earrings, little shirt dresses, giant hats, silver hair and dark, dark make-up. Her style bares some resemblance to Twiggy's mod-look, but not as neat, not as meticulously put together, not really high fashion. Edie was more of a live-wire, more of a personality.

The Woman Who Fell to Earth: Tilda Swinton in 'W'

In Salvatore Ferragamo
“David Bowie—whom I’ve been orbiting ever since I saw The Man Who Fell to Earth in 1976—and my father, Maj. Gen. Sir John Swinton. They are individuals with whom I share the same planetary DNA.”
-Tilda Swinton on her style Icons.

Our most captivating androgynous actress channels '70s era Bowie in a spacey spread titled "Planet Tilda" photographed by Tim Walker. See it here. It is quite brilliant, a reminder of fashion's ability to go beyond...

The Noise: Beyoncé grows-up on '4'

Beyoncé has never been good with album titles. I mean B'Day? I Am/Sasha Fierce? But she has always been exceptional at turning out the perfect soul/pop tune. Just think of all the classics she already has under her belt. The rapturous disco-horned "Crazy in Love," the ultimate up-beat fuck you anthem that is "Irreplaceable," the contagiously jumpy "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," among other smash hits, and the slew of girl power anthems she master minded for Destiny's Child. These hits have more than asserted her as the definitive capital D diva of her generation.

Fashion goes Funny: Markus Lupfer's 2012 Resort Video

Designer Markus Lupfer's 2012 Resort video takes on the curious, yet amusing form of a science mockumentary. His models (including Florence Welch) are presented as extreme cases, in need of psychological help. But the clothes look fresh, easy and wearable.
