The Noise: Rihanna thinks 'You Da One'
The whole lyrics and the screen thing is getting tired, and to some extent so is Rihanna's sexually aggressive gyrating. But this has to be one of the most romantic tracks of her career, an exuberant love song, which is still very sexy. She also gets major style points for her extreme white cat eye sunglasses, her exquisite two-tone manicure and her interpretation of Malcolm McDowell's A Clockwork Orange look. It's just too bad that she may have ripped off another photographer.

The Noise: Lana Del Rey was 'Born to Die'

The Noise: Gaga's Post-Modern Meltdown
Easily one of the most infectious tracks off of the Born This Way album gets a melodramatic, highly stylized, and at almost fourteen minutes, epic video. The video begins with a shallow narration on the importance of artifice in its relation to memory and then turns into a mental hospital drama where Gaga tries to stretch her acting muscle, complete with tears. The rest of the video seems to reference everything from female psych dramas like The Snake Pit and Girl, Interruped, to eighties dance flicks like Fame and Flashdance, to the Angelina Jolie vehicle Gia, and yes, even Black Swan. Gaga fans will love it.

The Noise: Jay & Kanye still fly in "Otis"
The two biggest names in rap have joined forces for Watch The Throne, and if this video is any indicator they plan to keep on boasting while driving models around in Maybachs. In that sense the Spike Jonze directed video is something of a let down, but the song is pleasant enough paying homage to that great soul man Otis Redding, and sampling probably his greatest song ("Try a Little Tenderness"). Iron Lady: Georgia May Jagger as Margaret Thatcher for Harper's Bazaar
In Burberry Prorsum A witty spread by the always playful, provocative and at times notorious photographer Terry Richardson, featuring the luscious lipped model (daughter of Mick) channeling a woman who has brought out as many polarized reactions as one person possibly could. The spread features the ladylike fashions of Carolina Herrera, Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino and Valentino among many others, and while it functions as a tongue-in-cheek, slightly irreverent fashion spread, it also raises the question; how much do the clothes make the woman? Just how much of power is established by the way one dresses and how the public perceives them? Would the Kennedys or the Obamas have made it if they hadn't been chic couples? If Hilary Clinton were "prettier" or dressed better would she be President? Who knows. 15 Minutes: Edie Sedgwick
What happens to 'it' girls? The results can be tragic. Many of them burn too brightly, too fast. Some of them burn themselves out.
Socialite Edie Sedgwick had all the potential and aspirations to be a star, as a model or as an actress. She was a style icon for the brief period when she was one of the Factory's original Superstars, known for her black tights, large earrings, little shirt dresses, giant hats, silver hair and dark, dark make-up. Her style bares some resemblance to Twiggy's mod-look, but not as neat, not as meticulously put together, not really high fashion. Edie was more of a live-wire, more of a personality.

She garnered acclaim for her portrayal in last year's Coen Brothers' western True Grit, but Hailee Steinfeld was also noted for her red carpet style, wearing designs by Marchesa, Prada, and Miu Miu. Miuccia Prada must have caught on to her old-soul, ingenue appeal, because she has cast her in Miu Miu's Fall 2011 campaign, gorgeously photographed by Bruce Webber. Très chic cinema: I Am Love
Sumptuous romantic melodramas are not as frequently seen on movie screens as they were in the days of Douglas Sirk and Technicolor. It's even harder to see one that features a strong female lead with a killer wardrobe. That's too bad, since cinema is about fantasy, and what is more fantastical than a uniquely beautiful woman romantically suffering in lush Milanese fashions?
Tilda Swinton stars as a Russian immigrant who has assimilated into the role of bourgeois Milanese housewife only to find her passionate side awakened by the family's earthy cook. Her exquisite minimalist wardrobe is by Jil Sander, and her luxurious bags are Fendi, two of the ultimate houses of Italian fashion.
Swinton has hardly ever been better, and certainly she has never been so glamorous. Her androgynous beauty paired with how she intellectualizes her romantic suffering is reminiscent of Garbo in her thirties melodramas. Also, Marisa Berenson is in it, and she still looks amazing for a woman of her age. You should see it, or at least check out the trailer below.
